The Best Basketball Skills Training Academy to Level Up your Game this Spring!
Basketball skills training for intermediate to advanced players!
This Spring, we are happy to announce that we will have a Basketball Skills Academy on the northside of Chicago.
Every Tuesday, from May 6 through May 27th,from 5:30-7:30 pm, our Academy will host 2 hours of elite basketball skills training: 1 Hour of training for Skill Refinement, 1 Hour of training for Basketball IQ Development.
Hour 1 (530-630p): Intermediate to Advanced Skill Refinement:
- Ballhandling – Develop, Refine & Learn to Apply the Following:
- Change of Direction footwork: Cross Step, Open Step, Slide Step, Jab Step
- Stop & Go Footwork: Side Stop, Lunge Stop
- Change of Speed in Full Court & Half Court Situations
- Attacking in Straight Lines
- Shooting – Develop Competency & 70% Consistency in the following:
- Shooting Form (ensure balance, follow thru, and no hitches)
- Stationary Catch & Shoot
- Shooting on the Move
- 1Â Dribble Pullup
- Finishing – Develop, Refine & Learn to Apply the Following:
- R & L Hand finishing off 1 or 2 feet
- Basic Ball Protection
- Finishing with Contact & Avoiding Contact
- Intermediate/Advanced Jump Stop Series
- Defense – 1v1 Defensive Abilities in the Full Court and Half Court
- Ability to apply pressure to offensive players
- Learning to Wall Up to keep player out of the paint
- Learning to Take a Charge
- Learning to either change a player’s direction or keep a player going one specific direction
- Finishing defensive possessions with boxouts

Hour 2 (6:30-7:30p): Situations & Basketball IQ:
- Elite Level Decision Making Shoot, Pass, or Finish Drills
- Understanding What and Offensive Advantage is and How to Create and Keep an Advantage
- Shell & Scramble Defense
- Learn different defensive coverages for screens, off and on ball, including the following:
- On Ball:
- Blowing Up Screens
- Tagging / Going Over
- Going Under
- Switching (touch & point)
- Ice
- Off Ball
- Trapping (on ball only)
- Hard Hedge
- Flat Hedge
- Pushing Out
- Drop Coverage
- On Ball:
- Learn different offensive counters to defensive coverages, including:
- Ghost Cuts
- Backdoor Cuts
- Screen Out Cutters
- Slip Screens
- Touch Screens
- Brush Screens
- Ghost Screens
- Re-Screening
- Apply the different defensive coverages and offensive counters in the following situations:
- Off Ball Screening
- Pick & Roll
- Zoom Action
- Reactive Drills to develop Ballhandling, Ball Movement / Player Movement / Spacing, Decision Making, & Shooting Abilities
